ICS Kindergarten

Intown Community School introduces

Kindergarten
for the
2009 - 2010
school year

Using a developmentally appropriate curriculum,
kindergarteners at ICS will be allowed to safely test, observe,
and explore their environment in a community that nurtures
and respects each individual child.
For more information about our new kindergarten program,
please contact Admissions Director/Assistant Principal,
Peggy Means at 404-633-8081, Ext. 29, or pmeans@intownschool.org.

In our kindergarten classrooms you will find . . .

.. . . curriculum adapted for children who differ in experiences, background and learning styles.

. . . children working on projects and having long periods of time to play and explore instead of filling out worksheets as their primary way of learning.

. . . children playing and working with materials or other children. They are not aimlessly wandering or forced to sit quietly for a long time.

. . . children who have access to various activities throughout the day, such as block building, pretend play, picture books, art materials, and table toys. Children are not all doing the same things at the same time.

. . . teachers building strong relationships with children because they interact with them both individually and as a group.

. . . classrooms decorated with children’s original artwork, their own writing and dictated stories.

. . . children learning numbers and the alphabet in the context of their everyday experiences.

. . . children learning and playing outside every day as weather permits. Outside play is never sacrificed for more instructional time.

. . . books being read to children throughout the day, not just at group story time.

. . . children who are nurtured and loved in a Christ-centered environment.
